The Pot, the Plot and the
Planet - Carbon in the Greenhouse
CSIRO Plant Industry Forum
Date: Friday 23 August
Time: 3.45pm (EST)
Venue: CSIRO PI Lecture Theatre (video conferenced to all PI sites)
Climate change effects are widespread - from our local environment
to the entire globe. To be effective climate change research must
investigate processes at all these scales.
This forum will explore the diversity of research undertaken at
these different scales starting with 'The Pot' scale, which covers
plant responses to increased carbon dioxide (CO2) and temperatures.
Then we move onto 'The Plot' and 'The Planet' scale where computer
modelling of the carbon cycle at continental and global scales predict
the effects of climate change on the atmosphere, land and water.
Finally it will all be put in context by examining how climate
change research contributes to national and international 'greenhouse'
policy developments that are important for understanding and managing
climate change.
Chair: Dr Roger Gifford (CSIRO Plant Industry)
