Non-CO2 Greenhouse Emissions from Agriculture Program

A challenging opportunity exists within the
Department of Primary Industries to join the Co-operative
Research Centre for Greenhouse Accounting in a national role.
The CRC for Greenhouse Accounting provides national leadership
in delivering greenhouse accounting research that supports
the development of Australian and global greenhouse policy
and sustainable land management systems and practices in Australia.
You will be required to conduct market research into potential
barriers to the adoption of greenhouse best management practices,
then to work with the research teams in the non-CO2 program
to deliver products required by targeted industries, and to
identify opportunities for further research and development
activities. You will partner with researchers in other Greenhouse
projects, and key extension officers, change agents and policy
makers in the targeted industries to develop extension and
educational materials and provide advice to the policy makers.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate:
- Highly developed verbal, social and written communication
skills with experience in delivering information to scientists,
industry and the farming community in formal and informal
settings.
- Demonstrated ability to network and communicate
effectively with a range of stakeholders within the agricultural
and policy communities.
- Proven ability to organise and facilitate workshops
and conduct short courses
- Proven ability to work under minimal supervision
and in multi-disciplined teams in a reliable and highly
professional manner.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and develop
staff.
- Proven ability to work in a ‘virtual’
environment and maintain strong relationships remotely and
electronically.
The successful applicant must hold a degree in science, social
science or communications as it relates to rural communities
and agriculture, or equivalent qualification and expertise
in agricultural extension and the ability to work in the science,
industry and policy interface

Salary Range - $51,488 – $72,609. Appointment is generally
at or near the base of the salary range with ability for progression
through annual performance review. This is a fixed term position
for two years. The location of the position is negotiable
but preferably Bendigo or Tatura.
